Foundations
Four tiers, mirroring the Figma library. A tier only references the tier directly above it. Primitives never bind to a semantic token directly — the alias layer sits between them so a rebrand, white-label, or accessibility correction is a one-place change.
Raw palette values. Theme-agnostic. Never referenced directly by a component — only by the alias layer above.
A semantic grouping over the primitives. Same values, renamed for the role they play. Aliases are the only layer semantic tokens are allowed to reference.
What components actually consume via Tailwind utilities. These are the only color tokens that change per theme or mode — start here.
Component-specific decisions that don’t belong at the semantic layer — for example state chains like btn-primary-bg-hover, or per-component quirks.
